Small Moves
Studio apartments, dorm rooms, a few rooms of furniture or one couch across town. We send a crew and truck sized to what you are actually moving.
We match the crew and truck to what you are moving, so a studio move is never planned like a whole house.
Single items and small loads get the same padding, straps and floor protection we use on full household moves.
Every mover who shows up works for Dow Moving. No brokers, no subcontractors and no strangers sent from an app.
Your move is covered by our insurance whether we are carrying a whole apartment or one leather recliner across town.

No. One couch, a dorm room and a studio apartment all get booked the same way a bigger move does. What changes is the size of the crew and truck we send. When you ask for a quote, list the items and both addresses, including floors and stairs, and we will tell you exactly how the job will be set up and what it will cost before you commit.
Yes. We pick up furniture from stores, estate sales and private sellers and bring it to your home. Before the pickup, confirm with the seller that the piece is ready to go, that someone will be there to let us in, and that it is cleared of anything stored inside. Measure your own doorway and stairs too, so we know the piece will fit once it arrives.
Yes. Dorm moves are a common small job for us. Most residence halls set move-in and move-out time slots, loading zones and elevator rules, so send us that information when you book and we will plan around it. If the student is heading to an off-campus apartment instead, give us the lease start date and building details so the truck and crew are there on the right day.
Use sturdy boxes of a similar size so they stack well, and tape the bottoms with more than one strip. Keep heavy things like books in smaller boxes. Label each box with the room it is going to. Try to avoid trash bags and loose items, since they slow loading down and tear easily. Anything fragile should be wrapped and marked clearly on the top and the sides.
Yes. Partial moves are common when an adult child moves out or a parent moves into a smaller place. Mark everything that is going with tape or sticky notes before we arrive, and keep a short list for the crew lead. We only take what is marked, and we take care moving it past the furniture and belongings that are staying behind in the house.
