Senior Moving Services
Patient, family-run crews for downsizing and moves into apartments, assisted living and retirement communities, with the new room set up before we leave.
The same Dow crew stays with the move from start to finish, so your parent sees familiar faces instead of a rotating group.
Dow Moving is a family-run Ohio company, and we treat a parent’s move the way we would want our own handled.
We confirm elevator times, loading entrances and insurance paperwork with the retirement or assisted living community before move day.
Relatives who cannot be there in person get clear updates by phone or email as the move moves along.

Start with the floor plan or room measurements from the new community or landlord. During the estimate we look at the larger pieces, note their sizes, and talk through what will realistically fit with room to walk around. It helps to mark the must-keep items first, such as a favorite chair or bed, and plan the rest of the room around them. Anything that does not make the cut can go to family or storage.
Yes, and this is common. A family member can handle the estimate, scheduling and decisions with us by phone and email, while a local relative, friend or the parent is present on the day. Tell us who has the final say so the crew knows whom to ask. We send updates when loading is finished and when everything has been delivered and set up.
We do. Most communities set move-in hours, require an elevator reservation, assign a loading door and may ask for a certificate of insurance from the mover. Give us the name of the move-in or front desk contact and we will confirm those details ahead of time. That keeps the crew from arriving at the wrong entrance or during a meal service when hallways are busy.
It can. We can split the work across two days, with packing on one day and the move on the next, so no single day is too long. On move day the crew can work around rest breaks and keep one room quiet as a place to sit. Let us know about any health or mobility concerns ahead of time so we can plan the schedule around them.
Yes. Before the crew leaves, we reassemble the bed, put dressers, chairs, tables and lamps where you want them, and make sure walkways are clear. If you send us a simple sketch of the room layout, we can place everything on the first try. We can also unpack clothes and kitchen items so the new home is ready for the first night.
